As a self-taught photographer, I feel that looking through the viewfinder and taking images is like looking inside my own self and my inner world and it enables me to channel and express emotions as well as connecting with people in a simple, genuine and intimate way.
A lot of photo competitions and grants, for example, have got an age limit. That is a pejorative measure, in my opinion and puts a lot people into a box they don't need to be in, especially when the term " All-inclusive " is used for a lot of situations these days as the world is slowly changing. Quite a few people come to photography later in life, after having had another career... It would be nice to be able to get opportunities to share our point of view without preconceived judgments and also to get some help at any time regardless of just being out of school or not.
